The Nemea Winery Cooperative was founded on May 11, 1937, initially comprising 70 members. In 1959, in collaboration with the Wine Institute, it conducted the first experimental bottling of Agiorgitiko wine.
Today, after 82 years of operation and in modern facilities, the Cooperative counts over 500 members – growers of the indigenous red variety “Agiorgitiko” – and has the capacity to process up to 7,000 tons of grapes annually, making it one of the largest producers nationwide.
Its primary goal is to preserve tradition and promote Agiorgitiko, which is an integral part of the cultural heritage of the region. The facilities, located on a 33-acre plot with a building area of 8,500m², feature 10,000-ton stainless steel tanks (Inox). With 2 production lines, the annual bottling capacity is 6,500,000 bottles of 0.75 liters and 3,000,000 liters in Bag-in-Box format. For wine aging, an underground cellar with 427 French oak barrels has been constructed.
The Cooperative exports the renowned and award-winning Nemea wine (P.D.O.) to over 15 countries worldwide, primarily distributed in glass packaging with contents of 375ml, 750ml, and 2000ml. It also offers professional Bag-in-Box packaging in sizes of 3lt, 5lt, 10lt, 20lt, as well as PET bottles, for the domestic Cold & Small Warm Market.
With more than 40 codes in the Greek market, it has a presence in major organized retail chains as well as nationwide partners, covering distribution in the HO.RE.CA. channel. It is also the largest distributor of bulk wine to other wine industries in Greece that bottle the Agiorgitiko variety.
